The Design Process - From Concept to Completion
Step 1: Initial Consultation
During our initial consultation, we'll discuss your ideas, lifestyle, preferences, budget, and goals for your outdoor space. This helps me gain a clear understanding of your vision and how you'd like to use your garden.
Step 2: Site Analysis
I will visit your property to carry out a detailed site assessment. This includes measuring the space and evaluating important factors such as soil conditions, topography, climate, existing plants, and the site's history. Understanding these elements ensures the design is tailored specifically to your garden.
Step 3: Concept Development
Using the information gathered, I begin developing your landscape concept. Through hand-drawn sketches, watercolour illustrations, and specialised computer programs, I explore creative ideas and design solutions that suit your site, style, and brief.
Step 4: Design Review
Once the concept plan is complete, we'll meet to review the design together. Presented usually at a 1:100 scale on A3 paper. This is your opportunity to provide feedback, discuss any changes, and ensure the design reflects your vision before moving forward.
Step 5: Final Design Development
After the concept design has been approved, I will prepare the final landscape plans. The final landscape plan includes planting plans, a plant list, technical drawings, and a design of each garden room. These detailed drawings provide the information needed for construction, planting, and installation.
Step 6: Bringing Your Garden to Life
With the final plans complete, contractors can begin the construction and installation process. If required, I can provide site visits during the build to help ensure the project is delivered in line with the design and runs smoothly from start to finish.
