Embracing change: My journey into landscape design

A woman with glasses and blonde hair smiling outdoors, holding a large green lotus leaf.

Taking the leap

I’ve always admired people who take bold risks to change their lives, whether through a career or lifestyle shift. Though I never imagined I’d be brave enough to do the same, I knew deep down a change was necessary. Transitioning from full-time work to full-time study was daunting as an adult student. But I did it and I accomplished my goal by completing a Level 5 Diploma in Landscape Design through Wintec end of 2025.

Why landscape design?

My lifelong passion for gardening began with my grandmothers and mother, shaping my love for nature. I also have a strong interest in design inspired by my artistic family. I care deeply about people and the environment and believe in creating spaces that benefit all living creatures, especially as our climate changes.

Support

With encouragement from family and friends I am on my next life journey building a small garden design business in Christchurch New Zealand as a landscape garden designer.
